Ready for a seaside escape? Join us for an afternoon trip to Eckernförde, a beautiful Baltic Sea town just a short train ride from Kiel!
We will meet at 14:00 at Kiel Hauptbahnhof and travel there together by train (Deutschlandticket required!). Once we arrive, a local will guide us through Eckernförde and show us some of the town’s most interesting spots. Eckernförde is known for its beach, harbour, fresh sea air, old town charm, and relaxed Baltic Sea atmosphere — but it also has a rich history. During the tour, you will see places connected to the town’s past, including the over 800-year-old St. Nicolai Church and stories from Eckernförde’s history with Denmark.
Our city tour will end at the harbour, where we will visit the Ostsee Info-Center. This is a small interactive Baltic Sea museum where you can learn more about the animals, nature, and ecosystem of the Baltic Sea — with things to see, discover, and even touch up close.
Afterwards, you will have free time to grab food, explore the town, chill at the beach, or simply enjoy the seaside mood. Later, you can either return to Kiel for KiWo with us or stay longer in Eckernförde and make the most of the beach!
