Dear international students,
Germany has a sad history behind it. A hundred years ago, National Socialism made its way into society—it ended in a cruel war and the Holocaust. Even if it is not a comfortable story, it is an important one! That is why we want to take you to the Buchenwald Concentration Camp Memorial. To the place where National Socialism had its worst consequences.
We will leave early by train towards Weimar. Once there, we will first visit the memorial. There we will have a guided tour in English and a visit at the museum. How long this will take depends entirely on the group... but we estimate 4-5 hours. Afterwards, we would like to offer you the opportunity to visit Weimar with its cafes and restaurants. Around 4/5 p.m., we plan to head back towards Halle.
Before you register for the event, please consider whether the excursion is psychologically feasible for you. It deals with human suffering, death, violence, and grief. Furthermore, the event is intended for students only.
Once you have registered, we will send you materials to help you prepare for the excursion.
