Auroras - Mysterious lights of the north

orthern lights are one of the most wonderful natural phenomena. They are known as the "Aurora Borealis" (Northern Lights) in the far north and the "Aurora Australis" (Southern Lights) in the far south.

After a foray into the night sky with its luminous gas nebulae, we follow the Korean photographer Kwon O Chul to northern Canada, where he has captured these luminous phenomena, also known as auroras, in all their many facets. A magnificent dance of shapes and colors awaits you! It is not surprising that auroras have shaped the imagination and legends of the peoples of the far north during long polar nights.

How are auroras created? Charged particles from the sun, the magnetic field and the Earth's high atmosphere are the ingredients for this fascinating phenomenon. Is this the same process that makes the gas nebulae in the starry sky shine?
