Get ready for a beautiful hike from Freiburg to St. Ottilien and through Freiburg's city forest! We'll start together at Platz der Alten Synagoge, walk eastwards along the Dreisam and then climb through the city forest to St. Ottilien and its pilgrimage chapel. St. Ottilien is a historic forest sanctuary and one of Germany's oldest pilgrimage sites. There is also a forest restaurant on site where participants can buy food and drinks if they wish. From there, we'll continue westwards through the forest at roughly the same elevation to Kanonenplatz, our final viewpoint overlooking Freiburg. The route is about 10.4 km long, with 230 m of ascent and 170 m of descent. Expect forest trails, scenic views and great company!
