Mainz Festival
Our next trip is to Mainz 🚆 this coming weekend on the 24th of June.
🇩🇪 Mainz is the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate and is famous for:
- Rhine carnival
- Johannes Gutenberg (first mechanical book printer)
- being an official wine capital of Germany
- Roman Catholic Diocese
- being a Roman city with 2000 years of history
- Warm-hearted people
- Spundkäs (regional cheese)
About the festival
The Mainzer Johannisnacht was first held in 1968 and is one of the three main festivals in Mainz, along with the Mainzer Fastnacht and the Mainzer Weinmarkt. The festival is closely linked to the person of Johannes Gutenberg and the public image of Mainz as a city of literature and printing.
You can expect theatre, cabaret, jugglers, music, tasty food and drinks. Official webpage of the festival: https://www.mainzer-johannisnacht.de/
