Saint Martin Lanters
📅 Tuesday, November 11th
⏰ 5:30 PM
📍 Meeting point: LMU Main Building
💶 €3.50 (materials included)
Dear internationals,
Experience one of Germany’s most charming autumn traditions with us — the Sankt Martin Lantern Walk! 🌟
This tradition goes back to Saint Martin of Tours, a Roman soldier who became famous for an act of kindness — cutting his cloak in half to share it with a freezing beggar. Every year, people in Germany celebrate his generosity with lantern processions, songs, and warm community spirit.
🤔 WHAT DOES THE EVENT LOOK LIKE?
We’ll meet at 5:30 PM at the LMU Main Building, where we’ll start by making our own colorful lanterns! We’ll provide everything you need — paper, glue, rope, and a stick — so you can get creative and design your very own light.
Once our lanterns are ready, we’ll go for a walk through the English Garden, carrying our lanterns and lighting up the evening together. 🕯🍂
🎒 WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- Warm clothes (we’ll be walking outside)
- A big smile and creative energy!
Join us for this cozy and heartwarming evening — a beautiful way to experience German tradition, light up the park, and share a moment of togetherness!
With lots of love,
your MESA team
