Dear mountain-lovers and hiking cracks!

MESA is planning a beautiful winter hike with you!
On Sunday morning, we’ll take the train from Munich Central Station to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and continue by bus towards Eibsee, one of the most stunning alpine lakes in Bavaria, located right below the Zugspitze.
We’ll start our hike with a beautiful walk around Eibsee. From there, we’ll hike uphill through forest trails towards the Hochthölerhütte, where we can take a break and enjoy the view on the lake. We’ll hike back down and return the same way towards Eibsee and the train station.
In total, the hike will be around 16 km with approximately 550 meters of elevation gain. The pace will be relaxed, with enough time for breaks and photos.
Please bring your own food and enough to drink as the hut is already closed and does not offer food. After the hike, there may be a chance to stop in Garmisch for a warm drink or snack.
The hike is of moderate difficulty. A basic fitness level and sure-footedness are required. Winter conditions are possible, so be prepared for snow or icy paths.

🎒 WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- good shoes!!!! (hiking boots with good grip are highly recommended)
- warm clothes & layers (it’s January!)
- a waterproof & windproof jacket
- gloves and a hat
- a small backpack
- at least 1.5 liters of water and snacks
- sun cream (yes, even in winter!)
- a good mood and love for nature

🤔 WHEN DO WE RETURN?
We plan to take the train back in the late afternoon and arrive in Munich around 6 p.m.
