🗓️ Sunday, January 11th

📍 Munich Central Station, in front of platform 27 (RB6 towards Garmisch)
💸 Entrance to gorge costs 10€

Dear internationals
On Sunday morning, we will meet to take the train (RB6) from Munich Central Station (Platform 27) to Garmisch, and then a bus to the Garmisch Ski-Stadion. This is where we’ll begin our hike to the Partnachklamm, a spectacular gorge renowned for its stunning (and hopefully frozen!) waterfalls and ice formations.
After the bus ride, a 30-minute walk will bring us to the gorge entrance. We will hike on a well-maintained path, cleared of frost and snow, running directly alongside the roaring stream and icy waterfalls for around 1h. We will then continue for about 15 minutes to the Kaiserschmarrn Alm where we can warm up. You are welcome to buy food there or enjoy your own snacks nearby. Please note: the Alm accepts cash only!
The entire route (out-and-back, 6 km, 260 meters elevation gain) will take us approximately 4 hours. This is an easy-to-moderate hike suitable for everyone who can handle basic physical activity, as the path is well-secured and regularly maintained.
🎒 WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- good shoes!!!! (at least appropriate trainers, or better hiking boots)
- a waterproof jacket or poncho (might get a bit wet in the gorge)
- a beanie and some gloves
- a small backpack
- 2 liters of water or other non-alcoholic drinks and snacks for a short food break
- a good mood and love for nature (please don't leave your trash in the mountains, carry it down by yourself)
🌧️Depending on the weather conditions, we might have to cancel the event! Make sure to check Telegram and Instagram for updates on this trip.
We're looking forward to hiking with you!
With lots of love,
your MESA team!
