Mudflat Hiking
Hey lovely hikers!
Hamburgers like to call themselves Nordlichter – and as a real Nordlicht a visit to the North Sea at low tide should be on your bucket list! Get your summer clothes (hopefully :D) and join us on a guided tour through mud and sand, passing birds, mussels, shellsworms and other sea animals who come to daylight only when the sea releases them. You will learn more about the tides, the seabed and the fascinating Wadden Sea during the mudflat hike. Afterwards we'll have some refreshments to finish off the day before heading back to Hamburg.
During the summer you usually go barefoot but if you prefer to wear shoes you can either bring rubber boots or old shoes. If you don't have rubber boots, you could also rent some for a fee of 5€.
Information on clothing can be found here: https://www.cuxwatt.de/en/bekleidung. It's also recommended to bring a small towel to clean your foot after the hike.
The event is not wheelchair accessible.
What to bring: towel, if you need rubber boots/old shoes
Note for people living in Harburg: You can join us in Hamburg-Harburg. We will take the RE5 (14515) to Cuxhaven at 11:23 am (Platform tbd).
