ESN goes to Munich
We visit the Bavarian capital Munich
You don't have much planned for this summer and still want to explore? Just come with us to the largest metropolis in the south of Germany. Munich offers a lot of variety and also many sights that are very different from the architecture in Baden. The city is definitely worth a visit. However, we cannot travel to Bavaria without visiting a classic monastery brewery! On Saturday afternoon we will drive to Andechs Monastery where we will experience Bavarian brewing culture at its finest, also the ambience at the Ammersee offers a glimpse of the wonderful pre-Alpine landscape.
On the way back we will also visit Ulm, which is on the way. The city on the Danube also offers some great sights, including the highest church in the world, the Ulmer Münster.
This is what we have planned:
- Friday:
- 06:35 Meeting point Freiburg Hbf, journey to Munich by long-distance train
- Arrival around 12:00 Munich Hbf
- Drop off luggage at the hostel, then from 13:00 guided tour/exploring the city
- There will also be time for breaks, we can also adjust the programme according to the weather, we will discuss on the trip
- Saturday:
- In the morning: Weißwurst at the Viktualienmarkt! (or veggy option)
- At 12:30: Train to Herrsching am Ammersee, Andechs monastery
- Afterwards: Time for individual disposal
- Sunday:
- At 10:00 check-out from the hostel
- 12:30 train to Ulm
- 14:30 Arrival Ulm, explore city at own discretion
- From 17:30 Individual return or with the group departure 18:03
The ticket includes the following services:
- Travel by IC, ICE with reserved seats from freiburg to Munich
- Overnight stay and breakfast at the A&O Hostel Munich Hackerbrücke Friday-Sunday
- All public transport journeys with the group on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- Return journey from Munich to Ulm Hbf with the Fuggerexpress, Bayernticket

Attention, the return journey from Ulm is individual, you can use the special offer of the Semesterticket Freiburg in August. With this ticket you can use all local trains in Baden-Württemberg, there are no additional costs. If you don't have a semester ticket, you can book a Flixbus from Ulm starting at 17:00, or book a ticket for 14€, which we will then get for you.
The ticket does not include lunch, dinner or any other food except breakfast. You are welcome to buy drinks at the nearby supermarket. The hostel also offers a kitchen for self-cooking.
Note: If not enough people book a ticket, the event will be cancelled, in this case you will receive your money back. You will also get your money back if we have to cancel the event due to changed Corona regulations
