Hello everyone. We want to invite you to an excursion to one of the oldest cities in Baden-Württemberg: Heidelberg! Heidelbeg is not only known for its old town or its castle. Some say it has the longest shopping street in Europe. Furthermore, it is a big student city providing many little bars and cafés to hang out.
We are going to visit Heidelberg on October 14, 2020. We will meet at Freiburg Hbf on platform 5 at 8:45 am. Around noon we will arrive in Heidelberg where we will start with a lunch (vegetarian option available). Nevertheless, we recommend either having breakfast before the trip or to bring something for the journey. At 10:40 am there is a chance for a 40 min coffee break in Karlsruhe.
After lunch, ESN Heidelberg will provide a short city tour to point out all the highlights. After the city tour you will get free time that you can use to further explore the city. There is the old castle on the hill, the philosopher’s path, or the old student prison “Kartzer”. In the evening there will be enough time to have a drink in a bar.
At 20:20 pm we will meet at “Bismarckplatz” at the western end of the city center (in front of Galeria Kaufhof) to head back to Freiburg, where we will arrive (in time for you to catch the last tram) at 0:15 am.

If you are a proud holder of an ESNCard, the trip costs you €14. If you do not (yet?) have an ESNcard, it will be €19. It includes all travel expenses starting at Freiburg Hbf (No Student ID or Semester Ticket required) as well as a lunch menu (veggie option available) with a small drink.

Please keep in mind that there are several restrictions according to the Covid-19 Pandemic:
It is obligatory to wear a mask inside the train station, on trains as well as in the restaurants while you are not seated. The mask has to cover both, mouth AND nose. You can NOT attend the event if you have been in a high-risk area 14 days prior to the day of the event. Exception: You need to have a negative PCR- test. When you feel sick or you have Covid-19 related symptoms on the day when the event takes place, you are not allowed to attend. In this case a free cancellation is possible.
