Join us this Sunday, the 14th of July, in Worms and Speyer. 2 of the 3 imperial cathedrals of the Holy Roman German Empire are in these cities. Coronation, marriages, annual holiday and burials (oldest is in a crypt from 955) all took place here.

Martin Luther was officially declared a heretic by a council / diet held in Worms (1521).
8 years after this, representatives from 14 cities and 6 princes jointly wrote a letter of protestation against the condemnation of Luther’s teachings that was discussed during an imperial diet in Speyer. This protest is the reason the Protestant branch of Christianity has its name.

If you’re interested in Germanic / Norse Mythology: The city of Worms is where most of the events of the Song of the Nibelungs took place (Also referred to in the Poetic Edda and Völsunga saga).
