Excursion: Heidelberg

“One thinks Heidelberg—with its surroundings—is the last possibility of the beautiful.” — Mark Twain

Join us this Sunday, the 9th of March as we explore Heidelberg, a historic university city dating back to 1386, known for its medieval foundations, Renaissance castle, 300 year old stone bridge, and a charming Baroque Old Town.

Here’s a rough itinerary:
10:06: Train leaves Frankfurt (Platform 11)
11:39: Train arrives in Heidelberg
Tram to the stop Neuenheim, Brückenstraße
12:00: “Philosopher’s Path” with sweeping panoramic views of the city
12:45: Old Bridge with Bridge Monkey waiting at the end
13:00: Church of the Holy Spirit
13:10: University Square (Universitätsplatz)
13:15 – 14:45: Lunch Break (Meeting Point: Universitätsplatz)
14:50: Castle Gardens and Outside Area
16:00: Heidelberg Sweets: Kurfürst’s Delight and Studentenkuss
The Kurfürst’s Delight is a local treat, which consists of a sponge dough ball with a nougat cream filling, covered in marzipan and chocolate. First mentioned in 1896.
The Studentenkuss has been produced since 1863 by Heidelberg's oldest chocolate manufacturer, chocolaterie Knösel.

Whether we go back to Frankfurt or stay a bit longer at a cafe / pub will be spontaneously decided on the day of the trip
