Excursion: Bamberg
A popular Bavarian proverb goes: Bavaria is the prelude to paradise.
Join us this Sunday, the 1st of June, for a taste of paradise as we visit Bamberg.
Studding the upper end of Franconia, north of Bavaria, Bamberg has one of the best preserved medieval centers in Germany, with an entire millennium of history spilling into its streets and timber-frame houses, sliced through by the idyllic river Regnitz and surrounded by seven hills, each crowned with their own castle or church. Come explore the UNESCO listed old town, with buildings initially intended to rival Rome’s.
Try some smoke beer, a 600 year old beer brewing tradition preserved by some breweries in Bamberg, where the malt is dried over an open flame, giving the beer a distinctive smoky flavour.
Bamberg was the favourite excursion of the past three semesters!
Departure: 09:01 from platform 5, Frankfurt Central Station. Try to be there 10 to 15min earlier.
We will be taking the train back at 6 p.m. and arriving back in Frankfurt before 9 p.m.
